The Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences offers 3 analysis services directly within its walls and 2 services thanks to the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (Institut sur la nutrition et les aliments fonctionnels - INAF).
Are you interested in analyzing a texture?
Determining the size of a particle?
The physical chemistry and microbiology laboratories offer food testing services that are not available in private laboratories, such as texture analysis, microscopy, determination of particle size or the determination of sterilization and pasteurization values.
Are you studying genomics?
Looking for a location to analyze DNA?
At the cutting edge of technology, our analytical laboratory offers the scientific community genomic tools at a favorable price. We can study your precious samples to determine gene expression or DNA methylation.
Not familiar with the field? No problem. Our resources are available to help plan your experiments or analyze your high-throughput genomic data.
We specialize in non-standard sample analysis such as those containing very small amounts of material as well as those from non-model species.
We are here to develop tools to meet your specific needs if necessary.
Available tools:
- transcriptomic platform for swine and bovine;
- DNA methylation analysis platform for bovine, swine, and murin;
- bioinformatics analysis platform.

Have questions about a plant you found in your yard, field or woods?
The Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences (FSAA) answers your identification questions free of charge. Whether your flower, plant or seedling is wild, introduced or appears to be a weed, our specialists will be able to analyze it and help you.
Contact us if you would like to use this analysis service.
We ask that you attach a photo of the plant in the email, and include your contact information so we can reach you. Please note that there may be a 72-hour delay before we get back to you.
Do you want to assay food or ingredient components?
Looking to characterize your product and highlight its properties?
Are you searching for a specific analysis that can’t be found in a private lab?
The INAF analytical laboratories make it easy to discover, characterize and assay many different families of compounds using advanced technology and sophisticated methods.
Looking to confirm nutrient availability or absorption in your product?
Want to find out the release profile of an encapsulated molecule?
Do you need to evaluate the loss of probiotic viability in the digestive system?
With its high-tech devices, the INAF in vitro digestion platform can help you answer these questions and document the effectiveness of your product with rigorous scientific data.
