These scholarships originate from funding agencies such as the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (FRQNT), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), FSAA partners and philanthropic funds. In 2013, $630,000 was awarded to doctoral students including postdoctoral fellows.
