Support for Research and Development
The Canada Research Chairs program stands at the centre of a national strategy to make Canada one of the world's top countries in research and development. This program was launched in 2000 and finances researchers in the following fields:
- Natural sciences
- Engineering
- Health sciences
- Humanities
The Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences alone accounts for five of the Canada Research Chairs. Each chairholder receives $1.4 million, over seven years, in funding.
